Volcano Soccer Club (SC) is the select soccer club of Lewis County Youth Soccer Association (LCYSA).

Our Purpose: To provide Select soccer opportunites to the players with in Lewis County Youth Soccer Association.

Our Mission: Volcano SC has a twofold mission.

1. Provide players with in the LCYSA a club that is dedicated to player development past the recreational level.
2. Provide clubs and coaches with in the LCYSA the resources to sucessefully develop players at both the recreational and select level.

Our Vision and How it Relates to Recreation Soccer: All players enter our sport by way of recreational soccer. There, players learn important individual and team skills, enjoy personal friendships, and achieve some success. Usually around the age of 10, the recreational player and his/her family may consider whether to continue in the recreation arena or try "select soccer." Select soccer caters to the more competitive nature of some athletes, to those who want to play more, and to those who seem to have progressed faster. It frequently involves a greater personal interest in developing skills and learning the game. Almost always, it involves more time and family support and higher fees. The major reason for this is that, while rec play is limited to a season of a couple of months, select play typically runs for 10 months. In select play, sons and daughters find skilled teammates and opponents as well as high-level coaches, trainers and administrators. This is what Volcano SC strives to provide.

Recreational soccer is the vital foundation of Volcano SC. For soccer in our area to be successful, we need a healthy relationship between recreational soccer and Volcano SC. In the best of worlds, recreational, select, and school soccer complement each other. It is the goal of Volcano SC to nurture these relationships by keeping rec league coaches informed of our activities and providing them with information and training they can use with their own teams.

If rec players are interested in playing select soccer, we hope their coaches will discuss this with them. The entire soccer family--recreation, select, school--benefits from a shared vision and close cooperation that focuses on the development, enjoyment, and satisfaction.
